Speech and consulting

A coach for more than swimming

The model of Olympic success breaks down into your dream illuminated, your plan actuated, your work demonstrated, your gratitude indicated, and eventually- your legacy celebrated.

-David Marsh

You may have heard of David Marsh’s success on the deck, but across hundreds of speaking engagements, David has cultivated a reputation for effective speech. As a coach, David’s primary responsibility is to convey information to a diverse set of people most often about the quest for excellence. His talents through advising and speaking certainly isn’t limited to just his athletes.

A Creed Fulfilled

by A coach’s PROMISE

In 1945, George Petrie penned the opening line to the Auburn Creed:

I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work, hard work.

Though his time at Auburn has passed, the spirit of hard work continues to follow David wherever he goes. Whether he’s coaching age-group, collegiate, or Olympians, David pushes the athletes and coaches he works with to find new depths and break their limits. Coach Marsh proudly represents Speedo USA exclusively.

About David

an Olympic-class coach

After a successful start coaching age group swim teams, David’s coaching career accelerated when he became head coach at his alma mater Auburn University in 1990. During his 17 year tenure there, he won more than 20 SEC Championships, 12 National Championships, including the first (and second, and third, and fourth) time a men’s and women’s program took home the championship in the same year. He then moved to Mecklenburg Aquatic Club, where the team quickly became one of the most dominant club teams in the nation. With his Team Elite professional group, he placed Anthony Ervin, Ryan Lochte, Cammille Adams, Kathleen Baker, Jimmy Feigen, and Katie Meili on the USA Olympic Team in 2016. This marked the second time David put more swimmers on a USA Olympic team than any other coach. David has coached on 4 Olympic teams, including the most decorated team in modern Olympic history- the aforementioned 2016 USA team. He has coached more than 50 Olympians from over a dozen different countries.

David lives in San Diego, California with his wife Kristin, a former CAL-Berkley swimmer and an accomplished coach in her own right. They have 3 children, Aaron, Alyssa, and Maddie, attending different colleges throughout the Southeast, all trying to serve by "doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with my God."
